The world’s leading beverage brand, Coca-Cola, is getting on the metaverse bandwagon with the launch of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte for the metaverse. The company had recently announced a virtual, gaming-inspired version of the soft drink before it will hit the shelves across the globe.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte will ‘bring the flavor of pixels to life,’ according to the global beverage corporation. The virtual drink will first be available in the metaverse-like world within the popular video game Fortnite.

The company has partnered with the global lifestyle, gaming, and entertainment brand, PWR, to create the Pixel Point, a custom island built within Fortnite Creative.

Fortnite Creative is a separate mode within the game where companies, brands, or even regular users can host their custom-built virtual worlds. Other players can explore these environments just like they would participate in the game’s different competitive modes.

Players entering the Pixel Point can also virtually try out coke-themed mini-games and new drinks and their flavors. The physical product will debut in the US stores beginning in May. However, the actual taste of the beverage is still unknown. Coca-Cola describes it as ‘transcending the digital and physical worlds.’ The product is the second in line from the Coca-Cola Creations project, the company’s initiative for creating innovative flavors for its Gen-Z customers.

“We wanted to create an innovative taste inspired by the playfulness of pixels, rooted in the experiences that gaming makes possible,” said Oana Vlad, Senior Director Coca-Cola TM Global Strategy: Choices.

“Just as pixels power digital connection, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte brings people together to share moments of Real Magic,” she added.
