The Tribeca Film Festival is adding video games to its official selection for the 2021 edition. The festival will be from June 9 to 20.

The first annual Tribeca Games Award will acknowledge games that “exhibit artistic excellence in storytelling.” Selections that are eligible include titles made for gaming consoles, online, VR, and AR. Recently, Tribeca has showcased games such as God of War, Legend of Legends, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

“For years, video games have been a one-of-a-kind medium for storytelling, art, and innovation. The gaming awards’ advisory board will involve Electronic Arts’ Bing Gordon, Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake, Halo Transmedia & Entertainment head Kiki Wolfkill, and Death Stranding’s Hideo Kojima. Others include filmmakers Jon Favreau, Nia DaCosta, and the Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley.” – Organizers said in an announcement.
