Unity, a platform that helps create 3D content for games and other experiences, has launched two new platforms called Unity Sentis and Unity Muse. These platforms use artificial intelligence (AI) to make it easier for creators to make their projects more interactive and engaging.
Unity Sentis is a tool that helps deploy AI models conveniently into a Unity project. This way, creators can bring their 3D creations to life with artificial intelligence. On the other hand, Unity Muse is made of tools that accelerate the creative process of 3D content. When used together, these tools create animations faster without interrupting the creator’s workflow.
According to the CEO of Unity, John Riccitiello, AI will transform gaming. Much in the same way 3D, mobile, and the internet did.
He goes ahead to express Unity’s disposition to AI, saying;
We expect AI to revolutionize gaming, much like the transformative impacts we’ve seen from 3D, mobile, and the internet,” said John Riccitiello, CEO of Unity. “We believe that Unity’s new AI platforms will be powerful for creators and artists as we expect Unity Muse to make them 10 times more productive while Unity Sentis will help them bring their creations to life with interactive intelligence in a way never before possible.”
Exploiting the super speed feature of Unity tools, Unity Sentis uses AI to deliver on-device model inference. This allows 3D creators to use deep learning on platforms supported by Unity without worrying about cloud costs or unnecessary delays.
Unity Muse, on the other hand, provides AI solutions to speed up the creation of 3D content. That way, creators use tools compatible with Unity Editor to create animes faster. The Unity Muse also has a variant called the Unity Muse chat, which helps troubleshoot and find information quickly.
The innovative gaming platform believes that AI will positively impact the future of game development. As a result, the company aims to make repetitive tasks automatic, reduce workloads and make them faster, and generate quality and accurate output, with AI, without disregarding the value of human creativity and expertise.
“We believe that every object, every system, and every pixel in every game will be touched by AI at create time, helping creators at every step be more productive and ultimately more creative, and at runtime, AI will bring worlds and characters alive, allowing for experiences that just can’t be done today,” said Marc Whitten, President, Create, Unity. “Unity’s Sentis and Muse will help automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and generate high-quality output with remarkable speed and accuracy, without replacing human creativity and expertise. Our focus is to make these capabilities available, easy, and powerful on every device that creators want to target.”
In support of AI-driven game development, Unity also launched an AI marketplace on its Unity Asset Store. This virtual marketplace contains verified solutions from third-party tools, which are usually tested and trusted.
Unity Sentis and Unity Muse are currently in closed beta. That is, they are only available to a selected group of individuals for a user tester by invitation. However, they are expected to be accessible later in the year. Nonetheless, developers can request access to their platform via a dedicated website.
