Aiming to improve driver safety and awareness, HARMAN, an automotive technology firm and a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., has announced Harman Ready Vision, a set of Augmented Reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) hardware and software products. The AR software from Ready Vision works with the car’s sensors to offer immersive audio and visual alerts that arm the driver with critical knowledge and information in a timely, precise, and unobtrusive way.

Ready Vision projects intuitive turn-by-turn directions on the windscreen, bridging the gap between the real and digital worlds. To provide non-intrusive collision alerts, blind spot warnings, lane departure, lane change assist, and low-speed zone notifications to the driver, it combines computer vision and machine learning for 3D object detection.

“This launch is a key component of Harman’s mission to enhance the safety of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians while cultivating transformative in-cabin experiences,” said Armin Prommersberger, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Harman International.

Ready Vision is a part of the new lineup of road-ready Harman devices unveiled at CES 2023 and has proven to give engaging in-cabin experiences. Each device is intended to function alone, providing specific benefits for vehicle connectivity, safety, and well-being. Still, it combines effortlessly with other Harman Ready products for an even better experience.

For instance, when a driver is distracted, Ready Vision, which integrates with Harman Ready Care, provides increased audio/visual alerts to bring them back to a more appropriate state for driving.

Instead of requiring drivers to examine and interpret data from several screens to obtain pertinent insight, Harman Ready Vision projects essential information onto the windscreen. It augments it with directional immersive audio alerts, helping drivers keep their eyes on the road. Along with accurate and timely updates tailored to the driver’s profile, interests, and choices, it offers real-time, contextual points of interest, like street names and addresses.

Harman has held a distinctive position at the nexus of automotive and consumer technology innovation for decades, producing significant products that set the standard for their sector.
