The French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has announced a new metaverse art project in partnership with Mandopop superstar Jay Chou.

Jay Chou had recently posted a video on Instagram with the title, ‘NFT Drop Coming Soon,’ featuring PSG stars Lionel Messi and Neymar. Through the video, the artist teases a preview of the artwork that combines his unique style of design with PSG’s mascot.

Chou is a leading Asian pop singer and has starred in well-known movies, such as ‘The Green Hornet’ and ‘Now You See Me 2.’ He has amassed tremendous popularity worldwide, becoming one of the most-streamed Asian artists on Spotify. Moreover, his online concert help last month received over 100 million views.

Now, Jay Chou is set to make a name for himself in the art world and has already received praise from several renowned collectors. The artist sold his white-glove collection last year for a whopping $10.7 million at Sotheby’s. This time, he is collaborating with PSG to experiment with metaverse or digital art.

PSG aims to extend its reach in Asia through the new collaboration with the Mandopop icon. Similarly, Chou aims to expand his presence in Europe. As per reports, he will also perform at a concert at Parc des Princes, PSG’s stadium.

Another key objective of the partnership is to raise awareness and funds for impoverished children through the PSG Endowment Fund. Over the past decade, Chou has launched and funded several programs to help underprivileged children.

Moreover, PSG has been active in the crypto space for a while. The signing of players like Messi and Neymar helped the club achieve exceptional fan token sales. Last week, its sales volumes soared past $15.6 billion despite a downturn across the entire market, putting the club ahead of other football fan tokens, such as Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, and more.
