An AR-powered demonstration developed by Amdocs, a top global provider of software and services to communications and media companies, will show communications service providers at AfricaCom 2022 how to improve and monetize real-world consumer experiences like a safari at the Kruger National Park and diving with sharks off Mossel Bay.

Experience Africa, a new exhibit presented by Amdocs at AfricaCom in Cape Town from November 8th to 10th, will highlight how telcos can attract new customers by offering interactive packages beyond connectivity. The demonstration is available for attendees to try at the Amdocs booth.

As part of the demonstration, CSPs can provide their customers with a tailored travel package with 5G connectivity and tickets to experiences and attractions. Users can purchase contextualized extras, such as additional data or an underwater camera for shark diving, from an AR avatar tour guide as they visit South Africa’s famous landmarks and other points of interest.

“We’re excited to be harnessing the power of AR to bring the magic of South Africa to life at AfricaCom,” said Mark Joseph, CEO for Africa, Amdocs.

New technologies like augmented reality present a massive opportunity for telcos in Africa to reinvent the customer experience and offer memorable ‘wow’ moments. Importantly, there is also a chance to monetize these experiences and achieve growth through customer attraction, selling beyond connectivity, and a quicker time to market for new goods and services across various channels.

Amdocs, which employs 31,000 people worldwide, collaborates with the top telecom operators to speed up their migration to the cloud, give them the ability to stand out in the 5G era, and digitalize and automate their business processes. Amdocs, traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market, had $4.3 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2021. The company has a location in the Johannesburg area and has been doing business in South Africa for two decades.
