The Vuzix Next Generation Smart Glasses (NGSG) picked up multiple CES 2021 Innovation Awards for its remarkable design and engineering. The smart glasses are manufactured by Vuzix Corp., a Rochester NY-based supplier of smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) technology and products.
The CES Innovation Awards recognizes formidable design and engineering in consumer technology products every year. NGSG bagged these awards across three categories – Computer Peripherals & Accessories, Portable Media Players & Accessories, and Wearable Technologies.
The company has expanded its patent portfolio from 90 patents and patents pending to 179 just within the last 36 months. It comprises several IP including laser and micro-LED display integration, waveguides with holographic optics, optics engines that support low-cost single-layer waveguides to multilayer large field of view solutions, and fashion-forward industrial designs. Such rapid innovation has paved the way for the next-generation smart glasses which are currently under development.
The smart glasses, set to debut later in 2021, will amalgamate the majority of smartphone and smartwatch capabilities in a pair of pleasant, yet contemporary glasses to allow for hands-free connectivity. The Vuzix NGSG will be powered by one of the smallest micro-LED display engines in the world and sport a bold see-through 3D display.
These glasses will let you connect with your surroundings and the digital world at once as if they were a united dimension. Using easy voice commands or simple gesture controls, they have the potential to become the ultimate smartphone accessory.
