The 4th Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF2021) was supposed to be held in Angamaly during May 2020 but had been postponed due to the pandemic. The eight-day festival, aimed at global discussion and development of Ayurveda, will now be held from March 12 using virtual reality.

Festival Chairman and Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan spoke about the leading organizations in the country and abroad that are going to be facilitating the festival. Center for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI), the Ayurveda Hospital Management Association, the Ayurveda Drugs Manufacturers Association, and the Kisma-Self Financing Management Association are a few of them.

Overall, the festival is going to be an outcome of the united effort of 14 such organizations with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) being the festival and industry partner.

The festival is going to be the first of its kind to be conducted using virtual reality, featuring 12 seminars per day across five venues.

The potential of Ayurveda for enhancing immunity is of great importance in the post-pandemic world and would be a crucial point of discussion at the conference.

“This time the exhibition will be held virtually and will have stalls of ayurvedic companies from all over the world. In addition to experts from within the country, many people from foreign countries will attend the conference. As business meetings are conducted virtually, more possibilities will be available in this field”, the Minister added.

The curtain raiser hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs in February 2020 in New Delhi oversaw the participation of official delegates from over 60 countries.

The virtual meetings will present a platform for the delegates to share their experiences and discuss the possibilities of Ayurveda as an industry within their markets. The festival will also attract ayurvedic product manufacturers and other stakeholders to facilitate foreign investment in the industry.

The exhibitions at the festival will showcase several technologies, products, and services across domains such as tourism, herbs, and research. They will also highlight the medicinal flora of Kerala and present the modern face of Ayurvedic science to the world.

Everyone working towards pushing the Ayurveda industry forward will culminate at the platform and discuss ways for achieving their goals. Interested delegates need to register and submit an essay on www.gaf.co.in before January 10 to participate in the festival.
