The third generation of the Blade smart glasses, Blade 2, was recently unveiled by Vuzix Corporation, a leading augmented reality technology solutions provider.

The Blade 2 is an AR workforce solution built on the well-liked Blade form factor that offers a plethora of cutting-edge features and high performance especially made to satisfy the needs of connected workers. In September, customers will be able to order the $1299.99 Vuzix Blade 2TM smart glasses for delivery to locations in the US, EU, UK, Canada, and Japan.

The Vuzix Blade 2 smart glasses, designed primarily for business use, feature a power-efficient, high-performance Qualcomm processor that now runs Android 11 and supports a wide range of enterprise-focused apps. A robust 40GB of integrated storage, improved security, and easy installation with popular mobile device management tools are all integral features of the glasses.

Improved connectivity options are now possible due to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth upgrades that support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Whether employees are using them inside or outside, see-through waveguide optics deliver a private, ultrabright virtual display that produces sharp, 24-bit full-color images.

With noise-canceling microphones, built-in in-temple stereo speakers, an HD camera, and ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses certification, the Vuzix Blade 2’s lightweight form factor still offers all-day comfort and protection, allowing front-line workers to collaborate safely. Prescription inserts for vision correction are also available.

Vuzix Blade’s sleek, comfortable design is admired by business clients in various industry sectors, including healthcare, construction, security, and retail. The company created this newest design in direct response to consumer demand for a more robust model that would still maintain the crucial wearability factor while having increased functionality and performance.

“Vuzix Blade 2 smart glasses are now optimized for enterprise use across a broader number of use cases. They deliver a versatile hands-free wearable computing solution critical in today’s diverse work environments, including head tracking, a touchpad, and full voice control,” said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix.
