The South Korean mobile network operator LG Uplus Corp. has introduced a new Fashion Metaverse, an online store called Meta Slap. Starting this month, the clothing store will become fully functional for users across the globe. On Sunday, LG Uplus signed a strategic agreement with domestic fashion companies Action Fashion and Z-emotion.
While Action Fashion runs the casual brand known as Polham, z-Emotion, on the other hand, develops 3D- integration-based costume production software. Earlier in May, the 3D software company developed a solution that enables making costumes in the metaverse. The trio will run the sales of fashion products and accessories in the newly developed Meta Slap.
The operation of the Meta store will begin this month under a leading concept of a clothing store combining the real and virtual worlds. Based on its configuration, the store will not only sell avatar clothes, but it will also sell certain offline products.
The three companies have also decided to link their Fashion Metaverse businesses to an artificial intelligence fitting room.
“The (San Mateo, California-based) metaverse platform Roblox says five of 10 metaverse users were found to dress up their avatars at least once a week,” an LG Uplus source said. “We judged that market potential was high.”
