There’s a mini-flurry of AR experimentation happening within the music right from big names to budding artists. For example, RJ Thompson released his latest album ‘Lifeline’ which is currently being reported as the world’s first augmented reality designed album artwork.
Listeners buying the album will be able to download an AR companion app, then focus their phone camera on the artwork, which will suddenly switch according to the day, weather, and year.
Buyers can also scan the CD booklet to open bonus content such as videos, sketches, demo recordings, etc.
“My idea from day one was to create something that feels like it evolves with you, that doesn’t start and end on the day you buy it, but that changes over time.” – RJ Thompson.
