SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) and Stanford University have partnered to co-design and develop an OLED technology which will produce resolutions of up to 10,000 pixels. This tech is essentially targeted at augmented reality and virtual reality tools. This new technology will provide an alternative to the two kinds of OLED screens that are generally used.

“In lab tests, researchers successfully produced miniature proof of concept pixels. Compared with color filtered white OLEDs, these pixels had a higher color purity and a twofold increase in luminescence efficiency, a measure of how bright the screen is compared to how much energy it uses. They also allow for an ultra-high pixel density of 10,000 pixels-per-inch.” – Report published in Stanford.edu.
