Conical, the New Zealand-based interactive studio, is launching The Green Fairy, a ten-minute whimsical fantasy adventure VR short movie, on June 24, the International Fairy Day.

The film will be released on different platforms like Oculus Rift, Quest by Facebook, and Steam VR.

Conical, with the support of Epic Games, has also produced a nine-part Vlog series. Followers can view it through The Green Fairy Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram channels.

The virtual reality short film shows the adventures of a Green Fairy who is driven from her loving home by the Fairy Catchers. The Green Fairy has no choice but to discover a new place to live. As she starts her journey to the Big Little City, it is only through perseverance and faith that she can defeat the rejection from other fairies and find her valid place.

The team utilized the most advanced real-time technologies and tools like NVIDIA, Oculus, HTC VIVE, the Unreal Engine, among others. Full-body movements were delivered by New Zealand actors at the AUT Mocap Studio Lab, while lip-syncing performances were delivered by US voiceover actors from Nickelodeon, Disney, etc.

“The future of Conical and The Green Fairy franchise is experiencing an exciting and innovative leap of progression; our vision along with support by key global industry partners, the likes of Epic Games, is to disrupt the family entertainment market through immersive entertainment. In future iterations we plan to introduce artificial intelligence for next-gen storytelling to promote a fully interactive Green Fairy experience.” – Alejandro Davila, Founder, and Creative Producer, Conical.
