The Russian space agency has designed VR glasses that work with all Steam VR games and apps and Windows 10.
VR glasses are used mainly for entertainment and video games, but professional and scientific projects have also started using VR glasses.
Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, uses it to train astronauts. The VR glasses are named Roscosmos XR-1 and XR-2.
According to Roscosmos, Roscosmos XR-1 is the entry model designed to test the technology. At the same time, XR-2, which is a prototype called Sokol-1 will compete in the international market.
The first model Roscosmos XR-1 is the basic model, with limited resolution and FOV. However, XR-1 makes up for it with an exceptional refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
While the XR-2 VR glasses have twice the resolution. It comes with a 5K screen and higher FOV (157 degrees diagonal). It is the closest to high-end VR glasses like the HTC Vive Pro 2 glasses.
According to Roscosmos, the XR-1 VR glasses will be used by astronauts to train in a Soyuz VR simulator and zero-gravity environments. XR-2 VR glasses will be used first in the professional sector and then in the consumer sector.
