The Shanghai-based virtual reality device designer and manufacturer, DPVR, is partnering with Travel Africa Network (TAN), a South African international satellite travel TV channel, to promote African travel experiences using VR.

TAN is a leading tourism multimedia service provider and the first African travel channel to promote its dedicated travel content to 135 million homes and luxury hotels in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The company recently unveiled a novel project, called ‘TribeVR,’ to establish a B2B tourism community and enhance relationships within the tourism supply chain. The platform provides hotels, tour operators, and sightseeing companies a medium to showcase their products, hotel lodges, and destinations. The users can virtually live these experiences through a VR headset displaying interactive product images or videos.

DPVR is the sole hardware provider for TAN and also offers several customizations to suit their distinctive needs. The VR headset’s appearance and adapting software have been customized to help TAN promote its brand and deliver a better user experience.

Derek Liu, VP of DPVR, said, “Our partnership with Travel Africa Network is extremely important to us as this project helps people from all over the world to better understand and learn about the experiences that Africa has to offer. At the same time, it can also contribute to the economic development of the continent by helping TAN to boost tourism opportunities.”
