Virtuix, a VR gaming company, has scored a record number of investors.
According to Virtuix, 6,500+ investors have provided $19 million to the company through SeedInvest, an investment platform.
Virtuix carried the fundraising drive under an SEC regulation that permits private businesses to sell their shares to non-accredited investors. Virtuix’s drive allowed anyone to buy their shares with a minimum of $1,000 in investment.
Virtuix’s product Omni One is a first-of-its-kind at-home omnidirectional treadmill that enables a new form of playing VR games. Players can jump, run, and walk in all directions inside all video and virtual games.
Virtuix also sells arenas to commercial venues where players can come and play. With outlets being shut down during the pandemic, revenue virtually stopped for Virtuix.
Virtuix got a Paycheck Protection Program loan and raised funding to survive the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has also expedited Virtuix’s push to develop Omni One.
