The leading social media and immersive tech company, Snap, is collaborating with Disney to create an AR-powered virtual mural at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park. Called the Cinderella Castle Mural of Memories, the initiative marks the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Visitors can use Snap’s AR tech and the My Disney Experience app to add photos to the mural. Users need to navigate to the ‘Mural of Memories’ section within the app and hold up their smartphones to the Cinderella Castle. The app will display the available sections of the castle where users can pin their photos. The mural also incorporates customers’ Disney PhotoPass photos taken by several photographers across the park.

Users can save and share a video of the mural experience and download two high-resolution, watermark-free versions of their photos. Disney stated that it would introduce additional sections of the castle that users could use for the initiative.

Also, the photos will stay up for at least three years. Visitors can witness the complete mural with all the pinned photos through the Snap Camera technology built into the My Disney Experience app using Snap’s Camera Kit developer tools.

Snap has been collaborating with businesses and brands around the globe to help them gain the advantages of the company’s AR technology. It also launched a global studio, Arcadia, last fall, intending to develop branded AR experiences with launch partners such as Verizon, WWE, Shake Shack, and P&G Beauty.

Snap celebrated the launch of the Disney app feature through a blog post, stating that it brought “a fresh perspective and new dimension to Disney PhotoPass storytelling in the park.”
