The Toronto-based virtual production and metaverse gaming company, Dark Slope, is gearing up to create a new virtual reality game after receiving funding from the global video game commerce firm Xsolla’s Funding Club.

The CAD $1.7 million funding will help create the brawler “Monster Bash Block Party,” a Kaiju fantasy fulfillment game, and other unannounced titles. Dark Slope announced that it had received additional funding from Ontario Creates and Canada Media Fund (CMF), following initial support from Xsolla.

In Monster Bash Block Party, players control a Kaiju on the rampage through realistic cityscapes. Players will interact with the city around them as they move through the game’s various landscapes, picking up buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure to fend off the waves of people trying to destroy them.

Each Kaiju is also equipped with its own special skills like energy beams, stuns, and lightning to overcome human defenses, as well as its distinct strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, in the Monster Fight mode of Monster Bash Block Party, monsters from all over the world can engage in combat with each other.

Xsolla has pledged to assist Dark Slope throughout the entire production process, from concept to post-launch.

After thoroughly evaluating the games’ pitches, playtesting, and commercial potential based on distinctive gameplay and opportunity in the VR market, Xsolla’s Funding Club has decided to support the titles. Through the Funding Club, the game was then shown to one of the largest groups of investors and publishers in the games sector.

The development of Monster Bash Block Party is the most recent of several significant advancements for Dark Slope, which also recently released an immersive location-based entertainment (LBE) simulator experience with branching narratives based on the Transformers IP. The entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s in North America commissioned VRStudios to create this volunteer project.

The Ultimate Obstacle Course, one of a number of thrilling VR single-player and multiplayer games created by Dark Slope, will be displayed at Xsolla’s booth at Gamescom later this month.
