LG U+ advances AR, VR alliance with global telecom and tech firms

LG U+ announced that the company has allied to create virtual reality and augmented reality content.

Joining the Global XR Content Telco Alliance are telecommunications firms LG U+, Bell in Canada, KDDI in Japan, and China Telecom. Entertainment studios Atlas V and Felix & Paul Studios are also entering the alliance as partner companies.

Partner companies and alliance members will bring together their technologies and resources to create quality AR and VR content.

LG U+ said the first virtual reality series released in November 2020 would be on the International Space Station. The series, which will be shot in space, will be produced in association with Time Studio, the Canadian Space Agency, and NASA.

LG U+ added that the alliance plans to deliver AR and VR content featuring a comprehensive range of entertainment, like sports documentaries and concerts.

According to LG U+, the alliance will continue to accept members and partner companies in the future to take the lead in related markets.
