According to tech experts, one of the reasons why the launch of the iPhone this year was later than previous years is because of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The reason is that Apple’s engineers make regular trips to various manufacturers and suppliers around the world, like China, to test products and make sure product quality and functioning are working as expected.

But because of COVID-19 they couldn’t visit those manufacturing and assembly plants, and hence the launch of the iPhone was delayed this year (or so are the rumors). Having said that, Apple has taken augmented reality to a whole new level. Per Dan Riccio, SVP of hardware engineering, Apple, during a virtual meeting, mentioned that engineers at Apple relied on AR to guide engineers remotely in plants in China and others to completely communicate with them.

Apple has been a huge advocate of technology over VR. With rumors that Apple could be developing their own pair of augmented reality smart glasses, this move does not come as a surprise.
