Apple has recently required Spaces, a VR startup. Spaces was a spin-off of DreamWorks Animation, which created a series of location-based virtual reality experiences like “Terminator Salvation: Fight for the Future.”

After its venture into games, Spaces built a virtual reality experience for Zoom, which allowed users to attend meetings in an animated form.

“Spaces then pivoted to build a VR add-on to traditional video conferencing solutions like Zoom, allowing Zoom users to take part in meetings with an animated avatar. We like to keep busy making things. We can’t sit around waiting a year for something to return.” – Spaces CEO Shioraz Akmal

Spaces had recently declared that it would be closing its services as the company moved in a new direction, which is the acquisition.

“Thank you to our users and partners who participated in our awesome VR video conferencing product and the many people who enjoyed our VR lparticipateased entertainment attractions found at theme parks, theaters, and more.” – A statement released by Spaces.

Apple also recently acquired NextVR, which is a live streaming AR and VR company.
