Not much has been revealed about the PS5’s accompanying virtual reality headset, the PSVR 2. But, we have begun to obtain glimpses of what Sony has in store for the devices, including its orb-like controllers.
The company recently mentioned “New Growth Vectors” in an investor catch-up document associated with the product. A section that discussed the “New Levels of Immersion” for PSVR 2 stated that the headset would present “unique experiences synonymous with PlayStation” to the users.
The document also mentions the previously disclosed information about the PSVR 2, such as the single-cable connection PS5 console and wireless motion controllers with haptic feedback similar to the DualSense PS5 gamepad.
However, much is still up for speculation. For instance, “unique” could possibly mean “exclusive,” hinting towards the fact that PSVR 2 gamers might be surprised with titles that their Oculus Quest 2 and SteamVR counterparts will miss out on. The “experiences synonymous with PlayStation” could refer to Sony’s back catalog of exclusive franchises, such as Horizon Forbidden West and The Last of Us.
Nevertheless, the exclusivity aspect is in sync with Sony’s existing PS5 strategy.
