The Canadian XR Startup Market Accelerator program launched by the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) will assist Canadian virtual reality, augmented reality, and voice-related startups to venture into the US market faster.
The participants will get an opportunity to grow their entrepreneurial skills and begin market validation through a mix of curriculum, introductions, and mentorship over the eight-week virtual program.
Cela, Eyexpo, Virtro Technology, and weshowup are the first few Canadian startups selected for the first cohort.
“The greater Cascadia region has grown into a hub of XR market leaders with the likes of Microsoft, Facebook, and Google in Seattle; plus, Electronic Arts (EA) and Finger Food Studios in Vancouver,” said Brandon Lee, Consul General of Canada in Seattle.
“This XR Startup Market Accelerator program provides a great opportunity to further develop the region as an industry leader, coupling cultural and economic links between Canada and the Pacific Northwest,” he added.
The accelerator program will provide workshops on sales, fundraising, and other stage-appropriate topics, tailor-made for the individual organizations. It will also include mentorship and coaching designed to assist with localization efforts and U.S. go-to-market strategies.
