The 5G networking team at EE, the BBC, and Factory 42 have teamed up to launch The Green Planet AR Experience at Piccadilly Circus in London that takes the visitors into an exciting augmented reality world.
The BBC’s recent nature program, The Green Planet, presents an excellent overview of plant life around the world, featuring unforgettable scenes in 4K on a quality display. But the new AR experience takes it a step further.
The experience will take the participants through underwater seascapes, drenched river deltas, and mountainous slopes. Sir David Attenborough narrates the entire experience, zooming in on the right areas and highlighting how the plants survive in all these areas.
Augmented reality has become an established part of the smartphone world, but it still hasn’t found many practical uses. However, this experience makes for a convincing application as it could enable a museum to deploy technology to deliver a much more comprehensive experience to its visitors.
Nevertheless, there is the massive scope of improvement to diminish the technical challenges of installing and running such experiences and making it a more simple, seamless process.
The Green Planet AR Experience is open for the public to attend until 9 March 2022, and free tickets for the same can be booked online.
