Augmented reality is the tool for firefighters in California to combat blazes.

Quake Technologies has designed a tool used to navigate burning buildings and help save more lives.

Firefighters wear a helmet-mounted with an AR device called C-THRU Navigator, which describes everything in a room filled with smoke in green.

Also, firefighters do not have to depend on their hands to lead them into burning buildings and can carry out their work more efficiently.

“Here, finally, we have a device that is hands-free. It’s got this border technology, it’s got this laser, so we have situational awareness and depth, and we have great spatial awareness. Not only can we be in that space a shorter period of time, it keeps us safer, it makes us more efficient and effective.” – Harold Schapelhouman, Menlo Park Fire Chief.

As per a statement, the fire district has signed a contract with Quake technologies to equip all firefighters with the helmet-mounted AR device.
