T-Mobile has launched the 2023 T-Mobile Accelerator program to support startups, entrepreneurs, and developers who are building immersive fan experiences for sports events and entertainment venues. The program received over 70 applications from around the world, and T-Mobile has selected nine companies to participate in the program and further develop their technologies.
For decades, people have been attending games, concerts, and other events in arenas with limited innovation to enhance their experience beyond simply watching. However, advancements in tech have made it possible to offer a more enhanced in-person experience. With the T-Mobile Accelerator program, startups, developers, and entrepreneurs can develop immersive fan experiences that can improve the experience. For instance, 5G-enabled drones could be installed in stadiums to capture unique camera angles, while first-person cameras could allow fans to see what athletes see in real-time. Additionally, AR and VR experiences or 5G-connected robots could deliver concessions to attendees throughout a venue.
T-Mobile is of the view that the technologies developed by this year’s Accelerator participants, combined with the carrier’s 5G, will significantly transform the way fans interact with sports and other events.
“We created the Accelerator program to give innovators a platform to bring their ideas to life using our technologies,” said John Saw, EVP and Chief Technology Officer, T-Mobile. “By leveraging T-Mobile 5G, this year’s group will have all the tools and support they need to expand their solutions and bring spectators at any event brand new immersive experiences.”
T-Mobile has been working with over 30 startups since its nationwide 5G launch in 2019 to drive 5G innovation and adoption in various industries. In addition, the program has collaborated with almost 100 startups, developers, and innovators since 2012 to introduce emerging technologies that revolutionize the way consumers live and businesses operate.
