Google Maps enables passengers to navigate train stations and airports with the addition of its Live View AR capability. The recent update is part of several new Google Maps features, as Google in 2021 aims to make “100 AI-powered improvements”.

Live View helps travelers locate their platforms and gates, cash machines, the closest escalators and elevators, and other places using directions and arrows. The new update is planned for a few select malls, stations, and airports in Zurich and Tokyo. While in the coming months, this new feature will be rolled out to other cities. Additional innovations added to Google Maps include a weather layer, which will be made available for all users, and it can be used for both current and forecasted weather conditions.

Also, an air quality layer will be made available initially in the U.S., Australia, and India. Google Maps is also making transport choices easier to compare by allowing users to view transport modes’ availability and how long it would take to get to a stop without jumping between different tabs.

Google Maps will also prioritize favored modes for users and show popular travel modes in a city.
