The pioneering virtual reality company, Virtualware, has unveiled version 2.0 of its VIROO® platform, a digital solution enabling remote development and deployment of multi-user virtual reality applications.

The company aims to build the platform as the standard for developing multi-user VR applications worldwide. VIROO® could enable developers to build, manage, and deploy virtual reality projects without constraints.

“We have created VIROO® to become the real next leap in the virtual reality industry. We expect hundreds of users to start developing complex, affordable, and meaningful immersive content that really changes the world,” said Unai Extremo, CEO of Virtualware.

The platform amalgamates innovative tech with a physical space, the VIROO® Room. It enables multiple teams to work at the same virtual location at full scale with the same material.

The VIROO® room also incorporates a complete suite of tracking systems with higher precision than conventional positioning systems. The advanced mechanisms enable numerous users to safely collaborate in the same virtual space. Virtualware has been granted a new patent for this tracking system by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

VIROO® has emerged to be the backbone of simulators in recent years. For instance, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is using the platform to facilitate virtual training for its ADIF railway infrastructure maintenance personnel.

Nevertheless, the VIROO® platform is constantly evolving and getting better. It recently introduced five new interactive demos showcasing the platform’s graphical and collaborative capabilities.

The company expects over 50 global organizations and industry associations to deploy the VIROO® standard for their processes by 2023.

The company, founded in 2004 by Unai Extremo and Sergio Barrera, has now become a European leader in innovating around immersive tech. The company functions through the main office in Bilbao, Spain, and an additional office in Toronto, with a vast network of partners worldwide.

Virtualware works with several notable clients, such as Alstom, Land Rover Jaguar, Iberdrola, Petronas, Repsol, Bayer, and Merck.
