Aiming to support handheld mobile phones and scanners for manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing applications, Moviynt, a US-based provider of SAP Certified ERP platform software solutions, has been acquired by Vuzix Corporation, a major supplier of Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) tech and products.

According to Vuzix, this acquisition strengthens Vuzix’s position as a provider of software solutions capable of enhancing access to and interaction with wearable and handheld devices. It will aid in promoting market adoption to manage regular business operations like supply chain operations connected to ERP systems.

Moviynt will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vuzix. With a low six-figure revenue contribution anticipated for Q4 2022, the acquisition is anticipated to be accretive. Moviynt’s SAP-based ERP mobility software solution is stationed in multiple customer sites. It is undergoing proof of concept testing at several warehousing sites across the United States and Europe for a Fortune 500 aerospace and defense customer.

Moviynt, a boutique specialized software firm, was founded in 2018 by three principals. It has created a logistics mobility software platform, Mobilium, that is device agnostic and eliminates traditional middleware.

In the long run, Mobilium can support multiple ERP systems, modern warehouse picking, handheld devices like Zebra scanners, wearables like Vuzix smart glasses, and even mobile phone-based systems. The technology from Moviynt is SAP certified and compatible with several ERP systems, such as Oracle, which will eventually receive full development and support.

A certified SAP gateway module, mobile apps, and iOS and Android clients that work on various handhelds and wearables make up the core technology and architecture of Moviynt. The technology from Moviynt is distinctive in that it can process warehouse and logistics-related transactions like picks, cycle counts, and transfers on the shop floor without requiring any new hardware, middleware, or intermediary servers, according to Vuzix.

“The acquisition of Moviynt bolsters Vuzix’s portfolio of product offerings to now include a software solutions platform that can be integrated with other smart devices for warehousing and logistics, and one that we believe can be leveraged and adopted by end customers and ISVs/partners alike,” stated Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix.
