Canada’s largest communications company, Bell, and Snap Inc. announced a partnership to bring together the best of 5G technology and AR to provide a one-of-a-kind immersive experience to the Toronto Raptors fans. In addition to launching the first 5G multi-user AR basketball game on Snapchat, Bell and Snap are launching the next wave of live entertainment activities.
For the first time, spectators in Scotiabank Arena using 5G devices can participate in a shared AR experience where they can team up and compete against one another while shooting baskets like the pros in real-time. Many players can connect simultaneously to the Bell 5G Shot Clock Challenge on Snapchat, which uses the unheard-of speed, latency, and bandwidth possibilities of 5G.
During four upcoming Toronto Raptors Welcome Toronto games at Scotiabank Arena, the Bell 5G Toronto Raptors AR Lens will be accessible briefly.
Attending Snapchat users will have access to a unique Connected Lens experience that is gamified and uses innovative AR tech. In real-time, participants will select a team to play for, shooting baskets simultaneously to add to a total score. The group that scores the most wins.
Each Welcome Toronto game features a different chosen creator, amplifying the city’s many voices and abilities. The Lens will be made available for the first time starting January 6 while viewers watch the Toronto Raptors play the New York Knicks. The next games are against the Boston Celtics on January 21, the Utah Jazz on February 10, and the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 18.
By accessing the Bell 5G Shot Clock AR Lens in Snapchat or scanning the Snapcode displayed on the Jumbotron, 5G users at the game can take part in this event. Without a 5G device, users can still participate in the fun using the Lens on a 4G or LTE network in single-player mode.
The news, which follows the release of TSN 5G View / Vision 5G RDS, another distinctive immersive experience Raptors fans can enjoy, is the most recent innovation utilizing Bell 5G technology. Bell consistently collaborates with companies like Snap to create improved digital experiences using Bell 5G’s outstanding capabilities.
