Sony has recently announced a next-gen virtual reality headset for its PlayStation 5 gaming console, which will be launch after 2021. The initial PlayStation virtual reality headset was first released for PlayStation 4 in October 2016.
Sony backed the technology with a quirky collection of games from its studios, including AstroBot Rescue Mission and Moss, an adventure game about a tiny mouse. Tetris Effect, an acclaimed, psychedelic virtual reality version of the block-stacking puzzle game, also debuted on PlayStation VR.
The new virtual reality system guarantees better resolution, a wider field of view, and more accurate head-tracking. It will connect to the PlayStation 5 with a single cable, which will make it easier to set up. It will also come with a new virtual reality motion controller that will incorporate some of the PlayStation’s 5 DualSense pad’s latest features.
The PS 5 has been sold out since its launch in November 2020.
“Players will feel an even greater sense of presence and become even more immersed in their game worlds once they put on the new headset. With both PlayStation VR and the next-generation VR system we’re building, our commitment to virtual reality as a medium for games is stronger than ever.” – Sony’s Hideaki Nishino.
