Pokemon GO earns USD1 billion in revenues in 2020

Pokemon GO has earned USD1 billion within the first ten months of 2020, making the Pokemon GO lifetime revenue of over USD4 billion.

Niantic, Pokemon GO’s owner created stay-at-home characteristics to enable players to experience the location-based game without moving outside their home. Pokemon GO’s major success came from mobile downloads and revenues as it increased distinctly this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pokemon GO is ranked 3rd in terms of player spending globally outside of third-party Android stores. The game’s constant updates and engaging themes have helped it retain its position in the gaming world.

The U.S. has been Pokemon GO’s most profitable market. US contribution in the overall player spending being over 36%. Japan is the second-best market with almost a third of the revenue contribution, followed by Germany. Revenue from Google Play accounts for more than half of the app’s revenue.
