The online provider of virtual reality and augmented reality courses, Circuit Stream, is partnering with the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies to bring AR/VR development courses to Ontario. It will be the first time a post-secondary institution in the province will offer courses for developing immersive technology.
A new UofT SCS XR Development with Unity program will provide Circuit Stream’s XR courses as part of the School of Continuing Studies. It will enable the pupils to gain practical experience with the Unity 3D platform through working on seven XR projects.
The students will get a Certificate of Completion from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies upon completing the course, along with an XR Developer digital badge from Circuit Stream, and gain an opportunity to bag an additional certificate from Unity.
The partnership offers students three separate courses: XR Development, XR Design, and C# Scripting. The courses have been designed from a beginners’ perspective and require no prior experience.
“Virtual and augmented reality have captured the imaginations of people around the world. We are excited to partner with the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies and to empower students with skills to create the next generation of VR and AR experiences,” said Circuit Stream Co-Founder Lou Pushelberg.
Professionals from companies like Nike, Shopify, Facebook, and Google have taken up the courses and successfully transitioned roles to various technology companies.
