The camera and social media company, Snap, highlighted yet another instance of its commitment and strength within the AR landscape at its latest Lens Fest event. The company unveiled several new features for Lenses, monetization tools for AR creators, and upgrades for the Spectacles.

The company’s annual global event is running virtually until 9th December, bringing creativity within the Snap ecosystem into the limelight. The event had humble beginnings four years ago, with a few dozen Lens Creators coming together in LA to create some cool Lenses. It has now become a global phenomenon, with thousands of virtual attendees spread worldwide.

Snap Co-Founder and CTO Bobby Murphy said, “Augmented reality grounds us with a view of the physical world and brings all that’s available in the digital world to us. Snapchat was founded on the idea that the camera could be used not just to document moments in time but to communicate in real-time. Lenses make this even more meaningful, bringing new imagination into your perspective.”

“It’s so exciting to see how the community taps into cutting edge AR technologies and brings them to life in innovative and creative ways. Over the last year, our team has introduced a suite of advanced new features like garment and skin segmentation, 3D Body Mesh, and VoiceML — all to help AR creators and developers build more engaging, realistic, and accessible experiences,” he added.
