Shopify to Enable Its Merchants to Add 3D and AR Visualizations for Their Products

The leading global eCommerce company, Shopify, will soon enable its merchants to build and launch 3D and augmented reality visualizations of their products. AR platform Poplar Studio provides the tool for merchants to make the job easier, quicker, and less expensive.

The process will work in a way wherein the merchants request 3D models of their products directly from Shopify and then publish the AR product visualization experiences onto their storefronts.

Currently, the 3D and AR tools available for merchants are scattered. Nevertheless, Poplar Studio hopes to offer an easily accessible and efficient alternative through its tool. It will enable Shopify merchants to convert their catalogs into 3D models and conveniently launch AR experiences for their customers.

According to research, around eight in ten consumers prefer an AR or VR shopping experience over traditional means. On average, retailers using 3D content on Shopify see a 94% conversion lift.

“3D modeling and augmented reality experiences such as product visualization have already proven to be more effective at driving sales than regular 2D images of products,” said Poplar Studio Chief Executive, David Ripert.

“For some, creating these experiences may seem expensive or time-consuming, but thanks to Poplar Studio’s 3D and AR product visualization tool, we’re empowering all merchants on Shopify to take advantage of the benefits of 3D and AR. Merchants will now be able to use Shopify as a one-stop-shop for all eCommerce 3D and AR needs and become more agile as they move on from outdated 2D assets such as images and videos,” he added.
