Shanghai Science and Technology Museum’s Shanghai Planetarium division is expected to start trial operations in June.

Shanghai Planetarium is situated in the Pudong New Area and has a floor area of 38,000+ square meters. With its floor area size, Shanghai Planetarium will become the largest planetarium in the world.

The planetarium has been planned and designed to include a main building and ancillary facilities like two observatories for the public and an exploration center for young visitors. The total exhibition area will be more than 12,000 square meters.

The planetarium has some 70 meteorites, including those from Mars, Vesta, and the moon. It also has more than 100 collections of artifacts, including original works from Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Kepler, etc.

Technologies including augmented reality, virtual reality, data visualization, artificial intelligence, and biometrics will be used so that the visitors can obtain astronomical scientific knowledge by interacting with the artefacts on site.
