OnPoint Surgical, Inc. is a privately held tech company with a focus on creating augmented reality (AR) based solutions for several spine, neurosurgical, and robotic procedures. The innovation-centric company recently announced that it will be participating in the 39th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. It is the largest healthcare investment symposium in the industry and will be held from January 11 to 14, 2021.
The company’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Philipp Lang will showcase the OnPoint Surgical technology platform on the first day of the conference at 12.10 pm ET.
OnPoint Surgical is developing pioneering AR-based technology for orthopedic and neurosurgical spinal procedures. Their platform works with see-through optical head-mounted displays that present a superimposed view of virtual surgical guides and virtual spinal implants to the surgeon.
The technology brings in a lot of potential to enhance the clinical outcomes through better hand-eye coordination, and remarkable operational accuracy, leading to several unique clinical and intra-operative advantages.
Their platform is a cost-effective alternative compared to the existing robotic systems. It employs optics instead of or in conjunction with haptics, thereby becoming an enabler for the next generation of robotic platforms. The OnPoint Surgical AR platform technology has been designed to be used in both hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
