One of the leading AR-based platforms, Leo AR, has launched a new marketplace within their app to simplify buying and selling 3D models amongst artists and consumers.
The platform will enable the artists to record and view their 3D creations in the real world, and the customers will get a more comprehensive collection of 3D objects from artists to purchase. The applications will provide the artists with more avenues to monetize their portfolios in front of millions of users worldwide.
With the increasing popularity of AR, online marketplaces such as this one will play a massive role in facilitating access to unique, high-quality creations by several artists. Leo AR’s founder Dana Loberg is an artist herself who is now looking to bring the artist-friendly marketplace to life.
“Today, most of the 3D asset marketplaces are web-based and sold in bulk to gaming companies or other corporations. Mobile is the best way to experience AR 3D objects, and nobody has yet been able to build a marketplace in mobile that offers an easy way for artists to monetize their existing portfolios directly to consumers,” said Dana.
“Leo AR wants to expand this reach for artists to mobile users globally so that everyone can have access to their work and help artists gain notoriety and followers for their efforts in building these digital assets,” she added.
Leo AR takes a ten percent cut of any sale made on the platform. The company also assists artists in pricing their models and portfolios appropriately and assisting them to come up with ideas that are high-in-demand amongst the users.
