STMicroelectronics, with an intention to meet the technical hurdles needed for all-day wearable smart glasses, has created the Laser Scanning for Augmented Reality (LaSAR) Alliance. LaSAR Alliance is a collaboration of suppliers, technology developers, and manufacturers partnering to design and develop AR smart glasses.

LaSAR Alliance’s founding members include Dispelix, Applied Materials, Osram, and Mega1. The smart glasses created by LaSAR will balance a minute, light-weight form factor, and very low-power operation with Field-of-View (FoV) and a big eye box.

The LaSAR Alliance draws together all the necessary elements from various members, which are assembled in an augmented reality smart glass, which is functional and stylish at the same time. The LaSAR’s mission has been to promote the development, support, and availability of all important technology elements for AR smart glass applications.
