A lightweight augmented reality (AR) reference design powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ XR1 Platform was unveiled by Goertek, a global leader in AR/VR manufacturing. The device will be suited to deliver high-performance productivity, immersive experiences, and low-power consumption for both consumer and enterprise applications.

Goertek has been collaborating with Qualcomm Technologies since 2016 and has developed several XR reference designs based on the latter’s mobile platforms and also Snapdragon XR1 and XR2 platforms. The company also joined the Qualcomm® HMD accelerator program in 2017 in a bid to pace up new XR product innovation by helping new XR product innovation.

The reference design will be compatible with smartphones, PCs, or tablets, and is optimized for devices powered by Snapdragon Platforms. It will come with two 6Dof cameras for hand tracking, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and use a free-form lens solution and 1920*1080P Micro OLED display module.

To furnish superior sound quality and privacy, the AR smart viewer will use Goertek’s latest near-ear acoustic module. The reference design also highlights a highly efficient heat dissipation design, innovative flexible hinge design, and ultra-light alloy material for premium comfort. It will assist OEMs in bringing premium experiences at a more affordable price in the upcoming months.
