The Shed in Hudson Yards will host the Frieze New York’s 10th edition in person this year, with over 60 galleries participating in the art fair. In addition, several immersive installations, augmented reality tech, and talk with some of the world’s leading artists can be witnessed at the fair.
Frieze Viewing Room, the company’s digital platform, will be parallelly hosted to connect an expanded list of over 160 exhibitors virtually. The initiative builds on the company’s hybrid format, connecting international galleries and audiences who cannot travel due to the restrictions in place.
A large, curated exhibition of augmented reality works called The Looking Glass, which will showcase in The Shed, the public area shaping the building, and the Frieze Viewing Room will also be set up in collaboration with the fair. Acute Art’s artistic director Daniel Birnbaum and The Shed’s chief curator Emma Enderby have compiled a selection of artworks from artists such as KAWS, Cao Fei, and Precious Okoyomon, which can be viewed on the free Acute Art app.
The Frieze New York Art fair will be held from May 5 to May 9, while the Frieze Viewing Room will be live until May 14. Tickets can be bought on Frieze’s website, starting at $25 USD per person.
