BANC3, Inc., a technology development company that supports the U.S. Department of Defense, announced recently that it had received a multi-year Phase 3 contract from the Army Contract Command to develop electronic control for the Augmented Systems of Airborne Optical Systems (MMO) BANC3, integrated with Augmented Reality (AR)/Mixed Reality (MR) functionality with the High Explosive Dual Use (HEDP-AB) Airburst Munitions Programming Unit (PU).

Commenting on the recent announcement, Babu Cherukuri, CEO of BANC3, said: “We are excited to continue our long-standing relationship with the Army for providing mission-critical next generation fire control systems integrating Augmented Reality capabilities, and look forward to continuing our support to the warfighter.”

Under the contract, BANC3 will develop AR capabilities for integrated energy management. BANC3 said the project would support and enhance the company’s capabilities and experience acquired through the successful implementation of the US Army Program Executive Office simulation, “AR/MR on Live Fire Range” SBIR Phase 1 and 2 contracts for Education and assessment (PEO STRI) in Orlando, Florida.

BANC 3 noted that previous SBIR contract work has focused on developing an eye-catching head-mounted display (HMD) for military training that can display a virtual target and simulate ambient occlusion.

Cherukuri added, “The Phase III award is a flexible contracting mechanism which provides a sole source contracting vehicle to fund any follow-on work, facilitating technology transition and commercialization of products for the warfighter to improve on existing maintenance and training efforts. Further use cases include applications to streamline military logistics and inventory management, among others.”

BANC3 says its AR and MR solutions are used in government, commercial, and industrial settings for education, remote assistance/support, monitoring, telemedicine, and more.
