Acute Art and Dazed Media created London’s largest augmented reality art festival with the launch of “Unreal City.” The AR art festival started on December 8, 2020, and will run till January 5, 2021. With ARKit technology’s help, Apple’s innovative technology “Unreal City” art festival invites guests along the river Thames to uncover 36 sculptures in AR. It is almost a mile of AR art for guests to admire some of the famous artists globally, such as Olafur Eliasson, Nina Chanel Abney, Cao Fei, Koo Jeong A, Alicja Kwade, Marco Brambilla, among others.

The augmented reality sculptures are situated on 24 sites in the Southbank space between Millennium Bridge and Waterloo Bridge on London’s riverfront. Users can download the free Acute Art app on their Android or iPhone and access the map to locate and observing view the AR sculptures. In “Unreal City,” Dazed Media and Acute Art have created a unique immersive experience in terms of exhibition format and participation, which are in line with the stated and shared wish to democratize art.
