Disney Parks has partnered with Snap that will enable visitors to take selfies with Disney characters virtually.

The collaboration will allow visitors to use the ‘My Disney Experience’ app to take selfies that include AR tech.

“Mickey and Minnie will be right beside you in Snapchat with their playful expressions and gestures. They can even give you a hug!” – Disney Parks blog post.

The Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse Lenses can be obtained via the Snapchat app once a visitor is at Walt Disney World. The lenses are available only at Disney World, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Per a CNN Business article, this is a big move for Disney World. COVID kept Disney Park closed for half a year. Now, Disney is looking to rework its parks by considering how the future might look. Adding AR is one step that Disney is taking in that direction.

“How do we take these really rich, deep stories and environments and do more with them? We don’t want to be constrained just by the physical brick and mortar. We just have so many tools in our toolbox now. When you look at things like (AR), we’re going to be able to just connect and engage guests in very different, incremental ways.” – Gary Daniels, VP of Digital experience, Disney, told CNN Business.
