The provider of room-scale VR-powered entertainment, training, and education solutions, Edge VR, has unveiled its new magnetically tracked, full-body VR platform. The system uses the company’s patented magnetic tracking technology to deliver high-quality, multi-person experiences in a room-scale environment.

The company’s immersive experiences are powered by a proprietary method of precise physical and virtual alignment coupled with magnetic tracking. The magnetic tracking system tracks the users within the physical space. It further delivers high-quality graphics through a wireless display to create a highly immersive environment for the users. Moreover, the platform is highly versatile, less expensive, and quicker to deploy.

Edge VR’s patented magnetic distortion correction and calibration algorithm rectify the steady-state distortion present in any space to deliver a high degree of tracking accuracy. Unlike the more expensive camera-based systems, the electromagnetic tracking system is occlusion free, eliminating the need for a line of sight. It enables close, immersive interaction with minimal calibration required for the system.

The proprietary algorithm aligns the virtual space to the physical space, accurate to five millimeters. The game space incorporates multiple physical interactive components, such as levers and buttons, to enhance the experience of the players. The company’s platforms are room-scale, requiring players to wear a lightweight harness designed for people of all ages and sizes.

“Six years of extensive research and experience in the VR industry have given us a deeper understanding of the current limited offerings and the potential beyond what has been accomplished so far. As a result, we’ve successfully opened up a world of possibilities,” said Adam Anfiteatro, Founder and CEO of The Edge VR.

The company’s tech is currently being displayed in The Edge of Space at The Edge VR Experience Center in Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
