The Korean multinational tech conglomerate, Samsung, has opened a VR-powered online digital store for its customers to experience and shop for products without the risk of coming in contact with the coronavirus.
The digital showroom has opened its doors for the public starting from October 17. The customers can move around the web-based showroom and click on the products to get more information about them. They are further redirected to the conventional online store to make any transactions.
Additionally, special concierges called ‘e-Dtailors’ will be available to assist and engage with customers individually and deliver a more personalized shopping experience. They will use a real-time video call feature to showcase the products or clarify any customers’ doubts.
“Samsung’s virtual store and e-Dtailor service, designed to reflect trendy changes in the consumer culture and logistics environment, will offer a safe shopping experience regardless of time and space,” said Samsung’s Domestic Distribution Head Director Kown Keum-joo.
Since 2020, South Korea has experienced a significant shift in shopping trends, prompting malls to connect sellers and customers virtually in real-time. The concept of ‘live commerce’ has gained tremendous popularity, especially amongst the younger demographics who highly favor online shopping.
