Premier League champions Manchester City are looking to capitalize on the growing popularity of metaverse by venturing into the virtual reality space. The leading football club is considering the development of new-age immersive fan experiences through the City Football Group.

The City Football Group umbrella company has posted several job openings for their Strategy and Ventures Team with the objective of creating a team that can ‘identify growth opportunities within the Metaverse.’

The job description seems to be searching for candidates that are looking to ‘explore new and progressive areas of business development such as NFTs.’

In 2021, Manchester City signed a deal with Sony for creating a fan experience, and the club had stated that they are the ‘cutting edge of the market.’

With the metaverse being considered the next giant leap in the technological landscape, it is imminent that organizations worldwide will develop applications for the space. It is definitely encouraging to see Manchester City take a proactive step in this direction for technology and the sport.
