The next Vivecon event by HTC is set to take place on 11th and 12th May. And with the announcement came a teaser for a new VR headset.

The company recently unveiled updated Vive Trackers and a Facial Tracking accessory and dropped a hint about plans for a new virtual reality headset. With the Vivecon less than a month away, we can look forward to more news on those plans.

The company resorted to both Twitter and its blog to tease the new headset’s launch and build up excitement before the event. Although these teasers don’t disclose much, something new is definitely in the works.

Alvin Wang Graylin, HTC Vive’s China President, tweeted a similar view of the headset with the hashtags #XR #VR and #Vive. The headset might also feature mixed reality or augmented reality elements, going with the hashtags mentioned in the tweet.

It might also be a commercially focussed headset from HTC, considering the phrase “…let’s get down to business” from the official Tweet. Graylin also previously mentioned that the company’s new headset wouldn’t be an Oculus Quest 2 competitor but that it would be its next-generation standalone and is “…going to be a great product.”

HTC Vive lost a bit of momentum in the consumer space, facing fierce competition from the Oculus Quest and Valve Index but let’s see what the company is onto next.
