The Venice VR Expanded festival will this year come to the Portland Art Museum.

The Fields Ballroom of the Art Museum will host the sessions where more than 14 guests can don VR headsets to view films. Portland is the only city in the US to host in-person VR screenings.

Guests can pick from three headset options and around 40 film experiences. Among the highlights are “Gnomes and Goblins”, “Baba Yaga”, “Smagen af Sult”, “Beat” etc.

The Oculus Go is the only occurrence that uses just the headset and does not require hand controllers.

Both the VIVE and Quest headsets come with hand controllers, alike to remote control or joystick, that help visitors more freely interact, move, and navigate. These two headsets also provide a wider wide range of experiences, more than 25 projects to VIVE and 6 to Quest.

Tickets include 1 headset, and guests should select between them. All headsets cannot be traded out during the one hour time period.

All VR content will be accessible to viewers ages 14 and above. Viewers will have around fifty minutes to interact with the VR experience.

Tickets are priced at $25, while Portland Art Museum and Northwest Film Center Silver Screen members will receive a discount of $5.
