Vinyl Moon, the monthly indie vinyl club for the musically curious and artistically adventurous, has taken their already deluxe releases to the next level with the introduction of augmented reality artwork and virtual turntables that allow anyone to enjoy the experience wherever they are.

With the release of number 083, the popular vinyl subscription service debuted unique AR-enabled artwork by visual artist Tyler Weitz. Holding a phone to the deluxe packaging reveals even more immersive, multidimensional artwork and corresponding music. The popularity of the release got the folks at Vinyl Moon thinking, ‘why don’t we create an AR experience for anyone, anywhere, to enjoy the immersive nature of Vinyl Moon?’ With that, the new AR experience was born: monthly releases featuring ten or more up-and-coming bands that can be played via unique AR turntables designed specifically for that month’s release. Moreover, anyone can access and share the new Vinyl Moon AR experience regardless of their subscription status.

Since its inception seven years ago, Vinyl Moon has prided itself on delivering incredibly deluxe and unique artwork by exciting visual artists, including extra goodies such as eye-catching vinyl slipmats and postcards that pair perfectly and thematically with the lovingly sequenced playlist.

Vinyl Moon was born in the brain of Brandon Bogajewicz, the blogger behind The Burning Ear. After listening to new music submissions for years from his laptop and the occasional 7″, he wished for a better way to engage with new music through vinyl and created the only record club of its kind. Examples of the many notable bands featured on Vinyl Moon during its first seven years include MUNA, Gavin Turek, Ages and Ages, LANY, Kan Wakan, Men I Trust, NVDES, Nation of Language, and more.

“We’re very excited to have a version of our experience that anyone can enjoy. No turntable required.” says Brandon. “And to ship these records to an equally amazing community of members!? It is like a dream. Thank you to all the bands, visual artists, and amazing members that have been a part of Vinyl Moon’s first seven years.”
